    1. Hello,
I found your site while surfing on the web for information and hope you can help me. I recently acquired a Bernina 170. I am in the process of learning to sew/embroider with it. It came with no software but since I have many designs on my computer in the pes format from my previous machine, I need a way to convert the designs and transfer them to my machine via serial port. My embroidery module has a place for a card but I have no way to write to the card as my PES design was fine for my Brother and doesn’t work for my Bernina. Do you have any suggestions with regard to what I need to purchase to be able to achieve what I am wishing to do? I am not looking for expensive software. Any help on options available to me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
      Patti

    2. Thank you for your comments regarding your Bernina 170 and the ability to read other designs Patti.

I have done some investigations for you and realize that you do not wish to purchase software, however I do believe if you purchase a Magic Box you will be able to convert various formats and put them on a card that your machine can read. The Magic Box can read most other embroidery languages. Bernina language is .art

You will be able to purchase a Magic Box from your local Bernina Dealer. You may still have to purchase another computer cable so that your machine will speak to your Magic Box as I believe the Magic Boxes now come with a USB hook up and your machine has a 9 pin serial port.
